About SPP Solutions
Wherever CCTV looks into or has the possibility to look into public space, it must be controlled by a trained and licenced operator. It is illegal to work in a CCTV Public Space Surveillance (PSS) Control Room environment while unlicensed. At SPP Solutions our CCTV training takes participants through the fundamental principles and practices of being a CCTV operator in the private security industry. The objective of the course is to support a role within the workplace.

do i need cctv training
If you are or would like to be responsible for the operation of CCTV that looks into public space (or has the ability to), it is a legal requirement that you are licenced to do so. Failure to hold a CCTV Public Space Surveillance (PSS) licence whilst working in a CCTV control room is illegal and can lead to a £5,000 fine or up to 6 months imprisonment.
If a CCTV system only monitors private space then a license is not required but the system must still comply with the Data Protection Act (DPA)18 and The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
